Do's and Don'ts
Do's
- Try to relax and just be yourself. This will be a lot easier as the evening goes on, and it will make the other person feel at ease. Don’t forget they are probably feeling a bit apprehensive or even a little nervous.
- Keep the conversation going, there is nothing worse than long silences.
- Dress for the particular occasion; wear something that you feel confident in.
- Get them to talk about themselves, ask question, and show that you are interested in them and what they have to say.
- Be polite and show respect for your date’s wishes.
- Smile and be friendly, it will warm the person to you.
- Try to be flexible in what you are looking for in a person and just remember nobody is perfect.
Don'ts
- Talk about yourself all night. The idea is that you get to know about each other.
- Don’t judge your date! Give him or her the benefit of the doubt. Try to be
flexible in what you are looking for in a person. Remember nobody is perfect.
- Don’t keep referring to any ex partners, and don’t compare anyone, remember we are all individuals.
- Ask too many questions. Be prepared to get to know this person slowly, just take your time.
- Don’t forget to make sure that you do not dominate the conversation.
- Don’t forget to thank them for the evening.
- Don’t try to rush into things too quickly, remember that people always want what they can’t have.
- Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve, remain a mystery so they will want to see you again.
ALWAYS REMEMBER
The definition of a bore is someone who wants to talk about themselves, when you want to talk about yourself.
